Text you paste into the Eraser or the Checker is processed inside your own browser and never sent to us. We store no accounts, no user profiles and no copies of your content. The only personal information we hold is what you choose to type into the contact form.
1. Who we are
This policy covers Claude Watermark Eraser, at https://claudewatermarkeraser.com. For anything in this policy you can reach us through our contact page or by email at [email protected].
2. Text you process with our tools
Your text is not uploaded. Both the Claude Watermark Eraser and the Claude Watermark Checker run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. When you paste text, it is held in your browser's memory, processed there, and discarded when you close or reload the page.
We never receive it, so we cannot store it, read it, share it or lose it. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use either tool. No request carrying your text is made.
There are two exceptions, both of which only apply if you deliberately take that path:
- With JavaScript disabled, the tool falls back to a form that submits your text to our server for processing. The text is processed in memory and the response returned immediately. It is not written to any database, file or log.
-
If you call our public API at
/api/clean.phpdirectly, the text you send reaches our server. It is likewise processed in memory and discarded.
3. What we do collect
Anonymous usage counts
When a cleaning or scan completes, the site may record a single anonymous counter: that a run happened, roughly how many characters were involved, and which categories of character were found. It contains no text, no identifier and nothing that could be linked back to you or reassembled into your document. These counters are aggregated by day.
Page view counts
We count how many times each page is viewed, storing only the page path and the date. No cookie, no visitor identifier, no IP address is involved, which is why the tool pages set no cookies at all.
Contact form submissions
If you use the contact form we store the name, email address, subject and message you enter, along with a one-way hash of your IP address and your browser's user-agent string. We keep these to reply to you and to detect abuse.
Hashed IP addresses
For rate limiting and abuse prevention we store a salted SHA-256 hash of the requesting IP address. The hash is one-way and salted with a secret, so it cannot be reversed to recover the original address. Raw IP addresses are never written to our database.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard web server logs, which typically include IP addresses, timestamps and requested URLs. These are managed by the host under their own retention policy and are not used by us for analytics or profiling.
4. Cookies
The tool pages, blog and informational pages set no cookies.
A session cookie is set in exactly two situations: when you load the contact form (it carries the security token that prevents forged submissions), and when an administrator signs in to the admin area. Both are strictly necessary, contain no tracking data, and expire when you close your browser.
5. What we never do
- We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
- We do not store the text you process.
- We do not build advertising or behavioural profiles of visitors.
- We do not require an account, and we have no user database.
6. How long we keep things
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Text you process | Not stored at all |
| Anonymous usage counters | Indefinitely, as daily aggregates with no identifiers |
| Page view counts | About 13 months |
| Contact form messages | Up to 12 months, then deleted |
| Rate-limiting hashes | 24 hours |
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to how we process it. Because we hold almost nothing, in practice this applies to contact form submissions.
Ask us through the contact page and we will respond within 30 days. There is nothing for us to delete in relation to text you have processed with the tools, because we never had it.
8. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.
9. Third-party links
Our articles sometimes link to external sites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change what the site collects, we will change this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the homepage.
